Yorkshire – Did you know…? Historically the northern boundary of the county was the River Tees, the eastern boundary was the North Sea coast and the southern boundary was the Humber Estuary and Rivers Don and Sheaf. The western boundary meandered along the western slopes of the Pennine Hills to again meet the River Tees. It is bordered by County Durham (along the River Tees), Lincolnshire (along the Humber), Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire (along the Pennines), Westmorland and the North Sea. Today, the southern boundary of Yorkshire is not much different from the ancient one formed by the River Don and the River Sheaf. However, Sheffield has expanded southwards, crossing these rivers and absorbing several Derbyshire villages. © 2007 - 2008 Conservatories-Yorkshire.co.uk For suppliers of quality conservatories, sunrooms, conservatory rooms, garden rooms and luxury porches – supplied and fitted or DIY Yorkshire Conservatories - Providing you with information, advice and conservatory quote requests.
